This notice explains how personal data is processed on DoctorsInTurkey under Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK).
Data controller
The data controller is the business that runs DoctorsInTurkey. Its legal name and address appear here once the seller details are published; until then you can reach us at info@doctorsinturkey.com.
Contacting a doctor, and our forms
The site collects no requests or appointments for doctors. You reach a doctor directly through the WhatsApp, phone, e-mail, website and social media links on their profile; what you share with the doctor on those channels does not reach us. How often those links are clicked is counted without identifying anyone, as described under "Aggregate counts" below.
What you write in the support form on the contact page and in the institutions' form on the pricing page (your name, e-mail address, optionally your phone and country, and your message) and the IP address you send it from are processed to answer your message. Only our team sees these messages; they are not sent to doctors. Requests sent earlier from a doctor's or clinic's profile stay in our team's records; they are no longer shown in the doctors' and clinics' panels.
Patient reviews and phone verification
You can write a review from the "Share your experience" link on a doctor's profile, with no invitation or account. What you write in the form is stored: your display name or initials, optionally your e-mail address, the month and year of your visit, your overall rating, your optional topic ratings (communication, clarity of explanations, organisation), your review's text and its language, the IP address you send it from and the version and time of the explicit consent you give. As a review concerns a health service it may count as health data: its processing and publication rest on the explicit consent you give in the form.
To send the review you verify your mobile number with a single-use code sent by SMS. To send the code, your number is passed to the SMS provider. SMS verification is not open yet; once a provider is chosen its name appears here, and until then the forms save no review. A record of each code sent (the number, the IP address, the time, the outcome) is kept to apply the sending limits; the code itself is never stored in clear. With your review, your number is not stored as such: only a one-way digest of it (HMAC) and a form with its middle hidden ("+90 5•• ••• •• 67"). The digest serves the rule of one active review per number per doctor and recognises you in "My reviews". A verified number does not prove that an examination or a treatment took place; the review shows "Phone number verified".
Our team reads every review before it is published, positive or negative, by the same rules; it may ask for further evidence (a visit document) or reject the review with a reason. An approved review is published on the doctor's profile, where review publication is on for that language, with your display name, the review date, the month and year of the visit, your ratings, your text, the verification type and the doctor's reply once our team has approved it, for anyone to read. Your phone number, e-mail address and documents are never published. The doctor sees your review in their panel only after our team has approved it, and can neither delete it nor decide on its publication.
Visit documents
You may send a visit document for your review (a receipt, an invoice or an attendance note); our team may ask for one when it doubts a review is genuine. Before sending it you verify the number the review was written with by SMS code again. We never ask for a diagnosis, a test result, an ID number or a medical file; you can cover any unnecessary detail on the document before sending it.
Documents are stored in a folder closed to the public and can be opened only by authorised team members (administrators and editors); every opening is written to the audit log. Doctors and clinics never see them. The team checks the document for the patient, the doctor or clinic and the date; if it accepts it, the review shows "Visit document checked". A document's file is deleted at the latest 90 days after it was sent, and at the latest 30 days after the team's check; the record of the check (who, when, the outcome) stays without the file.
Reviews written through an invitation
In the earlier version, when a request sent to a doctor was recorded as "treated" by our team or the doctor, a single-use review invitation could be e-mailed to the address on the request. A review written that way stores your rating, title and text, your display name, your country, the month and procedure of the treatment, your IP address and the version and time of your explicit consent; it is reviewed and published by the same rules as above. An invitation alone is no proof of a visit and earns no verification label. To withdraw or change such a review, write to us at info@doctorsinturkey.com.
My reviews
You sign in to the My reviews page with an SMS code sent to the number your review was written with or, if you left an e-mail address on the review, with a single-use link sent to that address and valid for 30 minutes. Only the link's digest (SHA-256) is stored, and it is deleted a day after it expires. The session ends after 15 minutes without activity, and after 4 hours at most. The page shows only the reviews tied to that number or address: you can see a review's status and the reason for a rejection, edit it (it goes back to review), add a document, appeal a rejection at most twice, or remove it. A removed review's text, topic ratings, e-mail address and documents are deleted at once; its row (status, dates, overall rating, the number's digest) stays as the record that it was removed.
Doctors, clinics and the doctor package
For doctor and clinic accounts, the name, e-mail address, a digest of the password, the profile details, photos and uploaded documents (such as the medical diploma) are processed. The documents are stored closed to the public and are seen only by our team; a profile names only the types of the documents that were checked, each with the date of its check. A published doctor's change of name, title or specialty, and a document added after the approval, go to our team's review; until it decides, the profile shows what was approved. The title and introduction a doctor writes in Turkish are translated automatically for the English page (see "Who receives it" below).
When the doctor package is bought, the name, e-mail address, phone, address and Turkish ID number or company and tax details for the invoice, the time the pre-information form was accepted and the seller details shown at that time are processed. Payment is made on the payment page of the payment institution PayTR; card details do not reach us.
Visit record and consent record
Visit record: only if you accept the notice, a visitor identifier is written to your browser and stored with your IP address and browser details. If you decline, no such record is kept. You can change your answer at the end of the Cookie Policy; if you withdraw an acceptance, your visit record is deleted. The "My reviews" pages are never written to the visit record.
When you accept, the acceptance itself (its time, your IP address and browser details) is kept as a consent record; if you later withdraw it, this record stays as proof that consent was given at that time. No consent record is kept for a decline.
Before this choice was offered (until 18 September 2026), a visit record with the IP address and browser details was kept for every visit, without consent. These records are still kept; you can ask for yours to be deleted at info@doctorsinturkey.com.
Aggregate counts: whatever your answer, daily totals that identify no one are kept: profile views, searches and the catalogue terms searched for, filter use, how often a doctor's card is shown in search results and in the lists of the procedure, category, specialty and city pages and with which procedure or filter, clicks on doctors' WhatsApp, phone, e-mail, website, social media and directions links, and messages sent through the contact form. They use no cookie, and no IP address, browser details, session or typed search text is stored. Doctors see these totals for their own profile in their panel. The site uses no third-party analytics tool; neither these counts nor any search text are passed to anyone. The Cookie Policy lists every cookie.
Who receives it
- An approved and published review: the site's visitors (display name, date, month of the visit, ratings, text, verification type) and the profile's doctor.
- SMS verification: your phone number and the message carrying the code, to the SMS provider, to send the code. SMS verification is not open yet.
- Hosting and e-mail: the site, its database, the documents and its e-mails run on the servers of our hosting provider (Hostinger).
- Payment: the payment institution PayTR, for the doctor package.
- Automatic translation: doctors' Turkish titles and introductions are sent to Groq's (USA) translation service for the English page. No patient data is sent.
- Map: when you press "Show map" on a profile, your browser connects to Google.
Retention
An SMS code send record's phone number and the IP address it was sent from are removed from the record about 2 hours after it is sent (every sending limit works on a shorter, hourly window than that); the record itself (status, date, purpose) is fully deleted by the application once it is older than 90 days. Review drafts whose code was never entered are deleted after 24 hours. Visit documents' files are deleted within the periods given above. "My reviews" sign-in links are deleted a day after they expire. Review invitations are valid for 60 days. Requests and form messages are kept for up to 3 years unless you ask for their deletion, as the Privacy Policy says. Reviews are kept until they are removed or deleted, other records until their deletion is requested.
Your rights
To exercise your rights under article 11 of the KVKK (to learn whether your data is processed, to ask for information, correction, deletion, to object and the others), you can edit or remove your reviews on the My reviews page, and write to us at info@doctorsinturkey.com about anything else.
