Hernia surgery covers the surgical repair of hernias, which occur when an organ or tissue protrudes through a weak point in the abdominal wall. Inguinal, umbilical, or incisional hernias can fall within this scope, and the procedure may be performed using an open or laparoscopic technique, often with a supportive mesh. Thyroid surgery involves the surgical removal of part or all of the thyroid gland in the neck, carried out for reasons such as nodules, goitre, or other thyroid conditions.
